 JOBS

As an additional service for potential participants of ICMMES we offer open positions related to the themes of the conference. We encourage you to add additional job postings by sending a short description to jobs@icmmes.org.

  • Department of Mathematics & Statistics at Old Dominion University (ODU),
Norfolk, Virginia 23529, USA, invites applications for one Post-Doctoral
    position and PhD candidate positions.
    • (1) Post-Doctoral position to work on simulations of thermo-chemically
nonequilibrium flows. Required skills for the position are: proficient
in programming languages (Fortran 77/90/95, or C, or C++) and familiar
with parallel computation (MPI or OpenMP) on various platforms; familiar
with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques such as finite
difference, finite volume and pseudo-spectral methods, and other
numerical techniques such as multigrid and adjoint methods for solving
PDE's. Basic knowledge of kinetic theory and lattice Boltzmann equation
(LBE) would be a plus but not required.
    • (2) We are also interested in PhD students to work in the following
      areas:
      (1) lattice Boltzmann equation and its applications
      (2) gas-kinetic method for non-equilibrium flows; and
      (3) mesoscopic methods for soft matters and complex fluids.

We encourage interested candidates to send their complete CVs to
      Prof. Li-Shi Luo (http://www.lions.odu.edu/~lluo) via email: lluo@odu.edu.

  • CEMAGREF (Paris) offers a short term Post-Doc position (18 months) for a non-french citizen. For further information please contact Dr. Irina Ginzburg.

  • The Max-Planck-Institut für Eisenforschung GmbH (MPIE) in Düsseldorf
(Germany) invites applications for various POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH POSITIONS in the following two fields:
    • (1) Lattice Boltzmann modeling of flow mechanics (requires excellent programming skills and strong background in lattice gas cellular automaton modeling).
    • (2) Crystal plasticity finite element modeling of microstructure mechanics (requires strong background in materials science and continuum mechanics). Very good knowledge of the English language is required. We are an equal-opportunity employer. We invite outstanding candidates to send their complete cv and list of publications via email as soon as possible to Professor Dierk Raabe (raabe@mpie.de).
